 1. GDPR

This policy has been written in line with legislative change, including both the Data Protection Act (1998) and the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force across the European Union on 25th May 2018 and brings with it the most significant changes to Data Protection Law in two decades. It states that personal data should be processed ‘fairly and lawfully’ and collected for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes’ and that individuals’ data is not processed without their knowledge and are only processed with their explicit consent.

Dance Roulette UK is committed to protecting the rights and freedoms of individuals with respect to the processing of participants, staff and visitors personal data. The Data Protection Act gives individuals the right to know what information is held about them. It provides a framework to ensure that personal information is handled properly.

2. What we do at Dance Roulette UK:

  • We will collect the information we need from you to get the job done.

  • We may use your email, postal address or phone number in order to provide you with essential information, invoices, or if we need to contact you urgently.

  • We will take care over information relating to people under the age of 18.

  • We pledge to keep our contact information up to date and would ask that you

       also inform us of any changes.

  • We will take care to protect and store the information you give to us – in electronic format, this means we will ensure it is stored securely and that access is only given to authorised people within the dance school. In paper format, this means that anyone who is given personal information is also charged with keeping that information safe and returning it to the appropriate person for filing in a secure location.


3. Purpose of Data Collection:

  • Business administration – weekly registers (See section 8)

  • Monitoring marketing effectiveness.

  • Facilitate a response to queries. (See section 4)

  • Improving our services and systems, as well as allowing us to provide requested services.

  • To improve customer service.

  • To process payments or to order uniform or other dance related items on your behalf. We may use the information users provide about them when placing an order only to provide service to that order. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to provide the service. (See section 7)

  • Marketing: Use of images, video collected by Dance Roulette UK with express consent to be used in flyers, posters, online videos and photographs. Participants and visitors can object to their data being used for certain activities, including marketing. (See section 6)

  • To send users information they agreed to receive about topics we think will be of interest to them.

  • To send emails. (See section 4)

  • Freelance teachers: Teachers will never be provided with personal details aside from their name and any medical information relevant to the class they are taking part in, with explicit consent from the participant).


4. Contact and Communication with us:

Users who contact us through this website do so at their own discretion and provide any such personal details requested at their own risk. Your personal information is kept private and stored securely until a time it is no longer required, has no use, or as instructed by you for removal.

Where we have stated and made you aware of the fact, and where you have given your express permission, we may use your details to send you information via email.


5. Email and Marketing Messages:

If you email us or use the contact/booking form online, you will share certain information with us. This will include your name, email address and any other details you tell us within the message. Your message will be forwarded to our email address and only the owner of Dance Roulette UK can read these messages. We will only use these details to enable us to fulfil your request (for example, confirming a class booking, giving more details about classes).

From time to time we may email you with information about events, activities and news. Users can give their permission to receive this information and can remove themselves from being contacted at any time by ticking a box on our enquiry form online via our website.


6. Social Media:

We have official profiles on social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook) and these are used responsibly by authorised members of Dance Roulette UK only; Owner and Creative Director. It is advised that users verify authenticity of such profiles before engaging or sharing information with such profiles. We will never ask for passwords or personal details on social media platforms. Users are advised to conduct themselves appropriately when engaging with us on social media.

There may be instances where our websites or social media features social sharing buttons, which help share web content directly from web pages to the respective social media platforms. Your use of social media sharing buttons is at your own discretion and you accept that doing so may publish content to your own social media profile feed or page. Dance Roulette UK may share photos and video images of participants in classes, events and performances through social media platforms. There may be times when we will share first names but only with explicit consent of the individual.

We do not use tracking software on our website to monitor our visitors or to store, save or collect personal information, therefore by browsing our site, we do not collect any personally identifiable information about you.


7. Sharing your personal information:
We do not sell, trade, or rent user’s personal identification to others.
We do not disclose personal data to other members of the school and their families.

Merchandise orders will be done directly between the owner and the supplier. Only a first name and sizing required will be disclosed. All payments will be made between Dance Roulette UK and the supplier on your behalf.


8. Data Protection:

Hard copies of registers and emergency contact details will be held by authorised members only. They are locked away while not in use. When they are no longer in use or out-dated, they are destroyed.

We take all industry advised precautions to protect all electronically submitted and stored data, however Dance Roulette UK accepts no responsibility for loss of data caused by persons with malicious intent, computer attack or infection.


9. Use of Cookies:

This website uses cookies to better the user’s experience while visiting the website. Cookies are small files saved to the user’s computer’s hard drive that track, save and store information about the user’s interactions and usage of the website. Users are advised that if they wish to deny the use and saving of cookies from this website onto their computer’s hard drive, that they should take the necessary steps within their web browsers security settings to block all cookies from this website and its external serving vendors or use the cookie control system if available on their first visit.
